Prof. J. William McEvoy

NIPC Medical and Research Director, Chair of Executive Council

Dear Alliance Members,

Welcome to the April 2023 NIPC eBulletin. I hope you are enjoying the recent good weather and I encourage each of you to get out and get active! We continue to work hard on delivering our education programmes, both short and postgraduate programmes

The NIPC are delighted to launch a new course Chronic Kidney Disease and CVD – What every practitioner should know. This 3-month online course curated by course lead, Dr. Niamh Kieran, Consultant Nephrologist, Galway University Hospital, will cover the latest advances in practice and integrated approaches to the management of CKD and CVD.

If you are looking to take the next step in your studies or progress your career in preventive medicine and cardiovascular health, I encourage you to check out our postgraduate programmes that are run in partnership with the University of Galway. For those looking to learn a new skill or simply refresh your existing knowledge, NIPC run a range of short courses from day long workshops to 3-month online courses, more on those below.

The next NIPC Series webinar has just been announced ‘New Approaches to the Management of Residual Risk – An Era Beyond Statins’

This free webinar is hosted by an exciting panel of experts and I highly recommend registering for it.

On the research side of the NIPC house, we are very excited that our INTERASPIRE cohort study of secondary prevention in 16 countries around the world is almost complete and we plan on reporting the main results over the summer!

Many thanks,
-Bill
