Prof. J. William McEvoy

NIPC Medical and Research Director, Chair of Executive Council

Dear Alliance Members,

Welcome to our September NIPC e-Bulletin. As the evenings get shorter, we will all need to redouble our efforts to get outside and keep up the positive, active lifestyles we have developed. It’s a very busy time of year at NIPC, with inductions for our new postgraduate students, research projects and planning two National Conferences.

Taking place in a couple of weeks, on 15th October, is the National Integrated Diabetes Care Conference. There is limited availability so I would encourage anyone who is working in diabetes care to register now to avoid disappointment. NIPC have just announced an exciting agenda for the 9th Annual National Prevention Conference, which takes place at the Sheraton Athlone Hotel on Friday 18th November. The deadline to submit your research abstracts for the conference has been extended to 2nd October, if you have not already done so please submit your abstracts.

Finally, in support of World Stroke Day, NIPC are running an in-person Masterclass on Managing and Treating Atrial Fibrillation on 22nd October at Croi House in Galway. Attendance is free and registrations are welcome from Cardiologists and GPs. You can read more about this below along with more details of the NIPC education offerings

Many thanks,
-Bill
