Dear Alliance Members, welcome to our September NIPC e-Bulletin. It’s a very busy time of year at NIPC, with inductions for our new postgraduate students, ongoing research projects and planning for two National Conferences.

I am thrilled to unveil the agenda for the 10th National Prevention Conference 2023. Once again taking place at the Sheraton Athlone Hotel, Friday 24th November 2023. To celebrate the 10th birthday of the conference, programme lead Dr Jenni Jones, has brought together nearly 40 experts from across the globe and I think you’ll agree it’s one of our best conference line-ups yet.

There is also a special hybrid pre-conference symposium on Thursday 23rd November, 6:00pm – 7:30pm. Don’t forget the 16th West of Ireland Integrated Diabetes Care Conference takes place in just over two weeks at the Sligo Park Hotel, 14th October. I urge you to check out this year’s agenda, which is jam-packed with a stellar line-up of guest speakers.

There is limited availability so I would encourage anyone who is working in diabetes care to register now to avoid disappointment.

Due to popular demand NIPC are once again running a Motivational Interviewing: The Essentials course. This is a 2-day hybrid course with one day of online learning followed by a day of face-to-face skills sessions at Croi House in Galway. We can all improve our communication skills to better connect with our patients and I highly recommend you consider booking onto this course.

Lastly, NIPC have just announced the next NIPC Series webinar Managing and Treating Atrial Fibrillation, Tuesday 24th October,7:00pm – 8:30pm. You can read more about this below along with more details of the NIPC education offerings.
