Prof. J. William McEvoy
NIPC Medical and Research Director, Chair of Executive Council
Welcome to our September NIPC e-Bulletin. The news that COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted, for the most part, on 22 October is encouraging. However, as the evenings get shorter, we will all need to redouble our efforts to get outside and keep up the positive, active lifestyles we’ve developed.
It’s a very busy time of year at NIPC, with inductions for our new postgraduate students, research projects and planning two National Conferences. Taking place in a couple of weeks, on 16 October, is the National Diabetes Integrated Care Conference and I would encourage anyone who is working in diabetes care to attend this excellent educational opportunity. Shortly thereafter, on November 19 and 20, NIPC will host the 8th Annual National Prevention Conference. The deadline to submit your research abstracts has been extended, if you have not already done so.
Finally, a reminder to register for the upcoming NIPC Series webinars covering important and interesting topics – the first is taking place tonight at 7pm and explores ‘The Triple Threat’ and the complexities of patients with multimorbidities. The second will be held during lunchtime on 29 October in support of World Stroke Day.
