NIPC at ACC 2025
Members of our team recently attended the American College of Cardiology (ACC) 2025 Annual Scientific Session in Chicago, a flagship event showcasing the latest in cardiovascular research, clinical practice, and innovation. Across the three days, there were excellent sessions on preventive cardiology, heart failure, advances in imaging, and emerging therapies, many of which will directly influence the future of clinical care.

We were particularly interested in the prevention-focused sessions, including updates on lipid management, blood pressure targets, and the evolving role of lifestyle interventions in cardiovascular risk reduction. Sessions on implementation science and the integration of digital health tools into preventive strategies were also highly relevant to our ongoing work at NIPC.

We were also delighted to attend the ACC’s 75th Anniversary Gala Dinner — a special event celebrating 75 years of remarkable legacy. The evening brought together leaders from across the world of cardiology to mark this important milestone and to recognise the global efforts driving improvements in heart health.

NIPC at EAPC 2025

Our research team, led by Dr Sandra Ganly (CEO of NIPC), were delighted to attend the European Association of Preventive Cardiology (EAPC) Congress in Milan this month, one of the leading international meetings for preventive cardiology. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with colleagues from across Europe and to showcase some of the important work being led by the NIPC.

A particular highlight was the presentation of the INTERASPIRE study findings by Professor Kornelia Kotseva, our Head of Research, during the session “Prevention: Where Are We Now?”. Professor Kotseva’s presentation focused on the persistent gaps in preventive care for patients with coronary heart disease across Europe, offering a timely reminder of the work still needed to improve secondary prevention.

Another highlight was to see Professor Bill McEvoy, our Medical and Research Director, deliver an excellent talk during the session “Hypertension: An Ongoing Challenge”. His presentation provided insights into risk assessment, blood pressure control, and the role of prevention strategies in reducing the global burden of hypertension. Professor McEvoy will also be presenting his research in our next NIPC Series: New Blood Pressure Guidelines – What’s Changed, Why, and How to Implement?

It was a valuable few days of learning, connection, and inspiration. We look forward to building on these discussions in our ongoing research, education, and advocacy work.
