Welcome to our July NIPC e-Bulletin. I hope you have been enjoying the fine weather, though 30 degrees Celsius is a little too much for Ireland! Without putting a damper on the recent sunny days, I’m reminded of the expected impact of climate change on all of us in the coming years; with adverse effects on health and cardiovascular health anticipated (in addition to the dangers of extreme weather). I’m increasingly worried that we must all now, immediately, start to do our part to mitigate the effect of human activities on our climate.

From an NIPC perspective, please, please, consider reading our report of the iAspire study, which points to the major need to improve CVD prevention in Ireland – a need we plan to address at NIPC.

Also, kindly consider applying for our suite of Masters programmes, being run in partnership with NUI Galway, which are designed to meet the upskilling demand created by the roll out of Sláintecare (including a new programme in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation).

Finally, a reminder to please check out our upcoming ECG workshop, our National Diabetes Integrated Care Conference (taking place virtually on 16 October), please also save the date for our annual National Prevention Conference on 19 & 20 November and don’t forget to submit your NIPC Fellowship application before the closing date on 31 August.
