On the NIPC side, COVID-19 has brought with it some evolutions that are in many ways exciting. For example, we are planning the delivery of our ‘MySlainte’ interdisciplinary community-based lifestyle program, funded by Slaintecare, as an online/virtual intervention. If successful, this model could be one that can be more easily deployed around the country. Also, our MSc in Preventive Cardiology will be largely delivered online, which makes it even easier than before to do. I would encourage you to check it out before the next academic year.
Other developments, outlined below, include: (a) we are working hard with Croi to get the message out to patients to #JustGo to the hospital or their GP if they have concerning cardiac symptoms, (b) I encourage GPs to review our survey on heart valve disease which will collect important information on healthcare provider perspectives around the treatment of valve disease in Ireland, and finally (c) I would also recommend you check out some exciting developments around a fellowship programme for NIPC.
