It is a great honour to announce the National Prevention Conference 2023 officially open! This highlight event coincides with the 10th birthday of the NIPC, so we have a particularly incredible line-up in store for you this year.
Register now to join us in-person at the Sheraton Hotel Athlone on the 24th November for what promises to be a highly informative educational experience and great networking opportunity. It’s free to attend and places are limited (with a waiting list anticipated) – so I do urge you to register early.
And there is more too! We also bring a special pre-conference symposium the evening before the main conference. Join us at the Sheraton Hotel Athlone on Thursday 23rd November (6:00pm start) for a unique prospect to engage in-person with a number of international leaders as well as meet-up with friends and colleagues for those very valuable conversations to connect, exchange ideas and network. Appreciating it may not be possible to join the evening before, the pre-conference symposia will also be live streamed (as one of our NIPC Series), so it will be possible to join this particular session remotely. The main conference on the 24th November, however, is in-person only.
I believe this year’s agenda speaks for itself and would like to take this opportunity to thank our NIPC Education Advisory Group and all our presenters; many of the latter coming from afar to mark our 10th birthday. This is a team effort and we really hope you enjoy the line-up of key note speakers, workshops and the strong focus we are placing on the application of science, evidence and guidelines to practice. Just some of the highlights of these combined events include:
- Updates in the National Heart Programme, Relevant Integrated Care Programmes and the New HSE’s Physical Activity Pathway for Ireland
- Climate, Environment and Cardiovascular Health
- AI in Heart Failure and Stroke Prevention
- Nuances and Advances in Hypertension Management
- Key Approaches in Obesity Management
- Interdisciplinary Advances in Cardiometabolic Medicine
- Meet the Experts: Top Tips in Achieving Risk Factor Targets
- Health Literacy Matters
- CVD Risk Factor Management in Women
- Game Changers in the Management of Lipids
Abstract submissions are also now open so please do submit your science, research and any relevant project work. This is an important opportunity to showcase and share your contributions and valued insights into the future of prevention and cardiovascular health. Successful abstracts will be invited to present in the poster-exhibition area, with a number of prizes available this year that will be announced in the closing session.
The theme for this year’s 2023 conference is “Cardiometabolic and Circulatory Disease: A New Era for Prevention Matters”. There is considerable national investment together with a noteworthy movement in ground-breaking science in the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease (and chronic disease more widely). This is a new era for prevention in many ways and it is exciting to be a part of it. Hoping to see many of our NIPC Alliance members in Athlone – please come and say hello to me in-person (or any of our NIPC team) and share your ideas for what you’d like to see coming next from NIPC Training and Education.
With thanks in advance for your continued support as we collectively strive to raise the flag for cardiovascular disease and non-communicable disease prevention and control even higher in the next decade.
Many thanks,
Dr Jennifer Jones
