INTERCEPT (I-App)

“INTERCEPT” is a digital health intervention designed to improve secondary prevention of Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) in patients living with coronary heart disease (CHD). The Intercept Application (I-App) integrates a mobile health app, a web-based healthcare professional portal, a fitness wearable and blood pressure monitor. To ensure I-App meets with the needs of the end user, it has been co-designed with key stakeholders including patients living with CHD, healthcare professionals and software developers at Citrus Suite, Liverpool Technology Company. To examine the feasibility of the I-App in the real world clinical setting we are currently conducting a mixed methods, feasibility study of I-App at Galway University Hospital. The project is led by Irene Gibson, PhD Scholar on the HRB Collaborative Doctoral Programme in Chronic Disease Prevention at the University of Galway and Professor Catriona Sian Jennings, Director of  Nursing and Interdisciplinary Relations at NIPC.
