The ‘What and ‘How’ of Supporting Behaviour Change in People living with Cardiovascular Disease

We welcome you to this short, self-directed course on supporting behaviour change in healthcare settings. This course was designed by Dr Michael Vallis, Dr Lisa Hynes and Dr Jenni Jones as part of a collaboration between the NIPC, the Behavior Change Institute (Canada) and the Health Behaviour Change Research Group (NUI Galway). After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognise the characteristics of a change-based relationship between health care providers and service users
  • Describe strategies for getting to a change-based relationship
  • Analyse barriers and enablers of health-related behaviours
  • Identify and formulate strategies for promoting behaviour change
  • Recognise and consider psychosocial factors in supporting behaviour change
