European Survey of Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease

The cardiology team in Galway University Hospitals in collaboration with the National Institute for Prevention and Cardiovascular Health are taking part in EUROASPIRE VI – a European survey of cardiovascular disease prevention, diabetes and chronic kidney disease. The results of this survey will help us to understand how well we are managing people living with these conditions and to improve the care that we provide.

Please note: Appointments in Galway will be available only on 8th and 9th of September.

Please select the location where you’d like to book your appointment.

What is involved in the study:

  • You will attend a special clinic held at Croí House, Moyola Lane, Galway.
  • Your appointment will last about 2 hours.
  • You will be asked not to eat or drink for 10-12 hours before your clinic appointment – refreshments will be provided during the clinic.

During your appointment we will:

  • Describe the survey and ask you to sign a consent form
  • Measure your blood pressure, height, weight and waist circumference
  • Ask you about your general health, lifestyle and medications
  • Ask you to complete a questionnaire
  • Take blood and urine samples from you
  • If you do not have diabetes, we will ask you to drink a glucose drink and give a blood sample 2 hours later.
