Dyslipidaemia remains one of the most significant modifiable risk factors in the prevention and management of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Yet, despite its importance, best-practice diagnosis and management remain inconsistently applied across clinical settings.
The 3-month online Advanced Dyslipidaemia Management Programme has been designed to directly address this challenge, equipping healthcare professionals across Ireland with the latest evidence-based knowledge, practical tools, and patient-centred approaches needed to transform lipid management in everyday practice.
The programme begins with a live online introduction session. Following this, participants will complete four self-paced online modules over the subsequent three months. These expert-designed modules, accessible anytime and from any location, integrate evidence-based content with interactive activities, case studies, and practical tools to support real-world application.
The course concludes with a live consolidation session, providing an opportunity to review key learnings, work through additional clinical case studies, and address any remaining questions with the expert faculty.
This module will give an introduction to lipid management. Participants will explore the pathophysiology and aetiology of lipids, current trends in dyslipidaemia prevalence, and the principles of effective lipid screening. The module will also include an overview of the most recent clinical guidelines, highlighting key updates and implications for clinical practice.
This module focuses on the lipid management from a primary prevention perspective. Emphasis will be placed on risk assessment tools, pharmacological options, lifestyle modification and case-based discussions to apply principles in clinical scenarios.
This module involves application and implementation of the guidelines from a secondary prevention perspective. Emphasis will focus on high intensity therapies, interactive case studies highlighting real-world challenges and managing complex cases such as statin intolerance.
This module will cover the latest advancements, research, novel therapies and the management of dyslipidaemia in specific populations. It will explore lipid disorders in familial hypercholesterolaemia, women, and patients with diabetes, as well as cover covering Lp(a) and medication adherence.
