Prof. J. William McEvoy

NIPC Medical and Research Director, Chair of Executive Council

Dear Alliance Members,

Welcome to February’s NIPC e-Bulletin. NIPC have a wealth of courses starting in March, Managing COPD and Heart Disease, Motivational Interviewing (Fully Booked), ECG Workshop and Cardiac Rehabilitation in Ireland, more details on those courses below.

We at NIPC are delighted to announce the launch of our NIPC Series 2023, beginning with ‘Menopause and Heart Health – The Essential Facts‘, 9th March, 19:00 – 20:30.
Women face many unique health challenges throughout their lives and this webinar will explore cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors and menopause.

On the research front, we are nearing the end of recruitment for our multinational cohort study, INTERASPIRE, with over 4000 participants around the world recruited. We are excited to present the results of this major study later this year, hopefully over the summer.

We are also excited to launch today (February 28th) the joint NIPC and National CVD Prevention Council Position Paper on “Advancing a prevention agenda for cardiovascular care in Ireland”. This important document, which we hope will motivate policy makers to more appropriately prioritise CVD prevention in Ireland, can be found at our website HERE and I encourage you to read.

Thanks,
-Bill
