NIPC Medical and Research Director, Chair of Executive Council

Welcome to February’s NIPC e-bulletin. It looks like we may finally be transitioning from pandemic COVID-19 to endemic COVID-19. I hope the current optimism for a return to some normality will be proven correct.

Unfortunately, many challenges still face us, including the need to catch up on our efforts to prevent cardiovascular disease (CVD) and to keep Irish adults physically and mentally healthy in their communities. We also need to understand how innovations and learnings, forced on us by COVID-19, can help us in the prevention of CVD as we emerge from the pandemic. The Croí/NIPC MySlainte programme is one such innovation and I was very proud to see the results of this presented at a recent webinar that I encourage you to review.

We at NIPC will continue to educate and innovate in our efforts to improve CVD prevention in Ireland. Events for this month that are worth highlighting include:
Many thanks,
-Bill
