Professor Barry Franklin - How To Prevent, Halt and Reverse Heart Disease

Croí and the NIPC were delighted to welcome Professor Barry Franklin, from Michigan USA, to the Croí Heart and Stroke Centre on Friday 28th November. The centre filled to capacity with members of the public who enjoyed a free public talk titled 'How to Prevent, Halt and Reverse Heart Disease'.

Professor Franklin is an Internationally acclaimed author and speaker and a world recognised expert on how to prevent, and recover from heart disease (and other cardiovascular illnesses such as stroke, diabetes and obesity). He is recognised as one of the top Cardiac Rehabilitation specialists in the USA and has written or edited over 500 publications.

After his talk Professor Franklin met with attendees to answer questions and to sign copies of his book, '109 Things You Can Do. Prevent, Halt and Reverse Heart Disease'. To buy a copy of this book click here.

Professor Keith George - Is Too Much Exercise Bad For Your Heart?

Professor Keith George (Professor of Exercise and Cardiovascular Physiology and Head of the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University, UK) is an internationally acclaimed academic whose main research focus is related to understanding the impact of acute and chronic exercise on the heart - whether in elite athletes, normal healthy people or clinical populations.

The NIPC had the privilege of welcoming Professor George on Friday 20th March 2015 to give a Public Talk on Is Too Much Exercise Bad for Your Heart? at the Croí Heart & Stroke Centre, and you can listen to his specialist advice on this fascinating topic by clicking the image on the left.

Samantha Breen - Exercise Considerations With An ICD

The NIPC were honoured to host a free public information session for ICD Patients on 18th April 2015 titled "Living More Confidently with an Implantable Cardiovertor Defibrillator (ICD)" which featured exceptional presentations from expert speakers in this field.

Samantha Breen (Clinical Lead Physiotherapist, Manchester Heart Centre) has over 30 years of experience working with people living with ICDs and gave us some great recommendations for patients on how to keep physically active. The NIPC were honoured to host a free public information session for ICD Patients on 18th April 2015 titled "Living More Confidently with an Implantable Cardiovertor Defibrillator (ICD)" which featured exceptional presentations from expert speakers in this field.
